Prof. dr. Bruno Bonnechère
Head
Bruno completed his thesis on the development and use of serious games in rehabilitation under the joint supervision of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Faculty of Medicine) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Faculty of Engineering). This double degree allows him to have both a medical and technical vision on the latest technological developments in the field of rehabilitation, and of the healthcare sector in general. He also holds a Master’s in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
After his thesis, he conducted postdocs at the University of Oxford, focusing on dementia and stroke risk modeling, and at the University of Cambridge, exploring mobile cognitive assessment in Africa.
Now an assistant professor at the Faculty of Rehabilitation and a member of the Data Science Institute at the University of Hasselt, his research emphasizes technology-supported rehabilitation, particularly using rehabilomics data with AI and machine learning. Besides his activities within the TechnoRehabLab, he coordinates an international network on technology-supported rehabilitation and leads projects implementing affordable solutions in low- and middle-income countries
Kim Daniels
Researcher
Kim Daniels is head of research at the Centre of Expertise in Innovation in Care at Hogeschool PXL. The center has a strong focus on integrating research findings into practical healthcare solutions. As a physical therapist, she has always been passionate about research, particularly in the areas of health promotion and physical activity.
Kim’s PhD project aimed at developing innovative solutions to promote physical activivity and healthy lifestyle in older adults.



Joanna Mourad

Joanna Mourad is a Psychomotor Therapist from Lebanon and a lecturer and supervisor at
Saint Joseph University of Beirut. An expert in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and a
tech enthusiast, her work primarily focuses on mental health and various forms of
Representation, with a special emphasis on body representations

Jean Mapinduzi
Researcher
Jean Mapinduzi is a physiotherapist with a master degree in Orthopaedic Manual therapy
(OMT) from Burundi. Jean is a lecturer at the “Institut National de Santé Publique (INSP)”,
and is currently involved in both clinical and research activities. He is coordinating the
TechnoRehab Lab 2 in the INSP. He is carrying on researches on the management of
osteoarthritis in Burundi in collaboration with the University of Hasselt (Belgium) in the
framework of his PhD.



Anna Kushnir
Researcher
Anna is a pediatrician and pediatric psychiatrist from Ukraine. Anna is involved in both clinical and research work. She is working in Elita Rehabilitation Center in Lviv.
Bekelu Teka
Researcher
(MPH/RH), a lecturer and researcher at Jimma University, Ethiopia. Bekelu brings a wealth of experience from her background in public health, reproductive health, and clinical services. She’s a dynamic leader, having coordinated multidisciplinary teams, worked on community service projects, and organized workshops at schools for female students. Bekelu has also secured grants from organizations like Texas Tech University, Jimma University, and the Packard Foundation.

Diriba Dereje

Anna is a pediatrician and pediatric psychiatrist from Ukraine. Anna is involved in both clinical and research work. She is working in Elita Rehabilitation Center in Lviv.
Chala Diriba Kenea
Researcher
Chala is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Institute of Technology, Jimma University, Ethiopia. He has a background in Information Science, with much of his research publications focused on health informatics. He teaches and conducts research, and as a result, has published more than 20 journal articles. Chala has supervised over 30 M.Sc. students and many undergraduate students in areas including health informatics, digital image processing, artificial intelligence, data mining, machine learning, and automation.
